Novaluron

Novaluron,氟酰脲

Other Name: (?-N-[[[3-chloro-4-[1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethoxy]phenyl]amino]carbonyl]-2,6-difluorobenzamide

CAS Number: [ 116714-46-6 ]

Molecular Formula: C17H9ClF8N2O4

Novaluron is an insecticide of the benzoyl urea family, which incorporates two
benzene ring structures and is a racemate of two enantiomers. Benzoylphenyl ureas have provided consistently good results when applied properly against certain susceptible pests. Novaluron in particular has been shown to have insecticidal activity against several important pests. Bioactivity of novaluron is usually much greater than that of insecticides diflubenzuron and teflubenzuron and the compound is at least as active as other insecticides from its developmental generation, for example chlorofluazuron and lufenuron. In comparison to other benzoylphenyl ureas, novaluron demonstrates improved contact toxicity, while the probable mechanism of action remains the same.

Novaluron has been shown to be highly active against a number of common pests, such as the Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata), whiteflies, the African Cotton Leafworm (spodoptera littoralis) and the cotton bollworm. the insecticide inhibits chitin synthesis, affecting the moulting stages of insect development. It acts by ingestion and contact and causes abnormal endocuticular deposition and abortive moulting. It is used in riculture/horticulture on a wide range of crops including cotton, soya, maize, pome fruit, citrus, potato and vegetables against a wide range of pests.

Novaluron is also used as a mosquito larvicide.

APPLICATIONS novaluron, potato
Biochemistry
Chitin synthesis inhibitor, affecting moulting.

Mode of action
Absorbed mainly by ingestion but shows some contact activity. Causes abnormal endocuticular deposition and abortive moulting. Effective against larvae, but also has a toxic effect on eggs of some species and in some cases reduces fecundity.

Uses
For control of Lepidoptera (Spodoptera spp., Plutella xylostella, Cydia spp., etc), Coleoptera (Leptinotarsa decemlineata), Diptera, whitefly, and leaf miners, in cotton, potatoes, citrus, top fruit, vegetables, and maize

Formulation types EC; SC.
