Nicosulfuron 75% WG

Nicosulfuron,烟嘧磺隆 other name:2-[[[[(4,6-dimethoxy-2-pyrimidinyl)amino]carbonyl]amino]sulfonyl]-N,N-dimethyl-3-pyridinecarboxamide

CAS No.: [ 111991-09-4 ]

Molecular Formula: C15H18N6O6S

Nicosulfuron is a herbicide, which affects sensitive weeds through inhibition of the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS). Inhibition of ALS leads to the cessation of cell division and subsequent growth processes in plants. Rapid growth inhibition is followed by plant death. It is used post-emergence in forage maize against a variety of annual grasses and weeds.

Nicosulfuron is applied postemergence with a non-ionic surfactant when weeds are 4-12 inches tall and actively growing. Rain within two hours of application will not decrease the effectiveness . Nicosulfuron is used for control of weeds such as Johnsongrass, quackgrass, foxtails, shattercane, panicums, barnyardgrass, sandbur, pigweed, morningglory and others. Crops include field corn and popcorn.

Nicosulfuron comes in a 75% water dispersible granule formulation. It may be tank mixed with a limited number of other compounds

APPLICATIONS
Biochemistry
Branched chain amino acid synthesis (ALS or AHAS) inhibitor. Acts by inhibiting biosynthesis of the essential amino acids valine and isoleucine, hence stopping cell division and plant growth. Maize selectivity derives from selective metabolism (P450-mediated pyrimidine-5-hydroxylation, followed by conjugation with glucose).

Mode of action
Selective systemic herbicide, absorbed by the foliage and roots, with rapid translocation in xylem and phloem to the meristematic tissues. Uses Selective post-emergence control in maize of annual grass weeds including Setaria, Echinochloa, Digitaria, Panicum, Lolium, and Avena spp., broad-leaved weeds including Amaranthus spp. and Cruciferae, and perennials such as Sorghum halepense and Agropyron repens. Applied at 35-70 g/ha.

Formulation types SC; WG.
