Iprodione

Iprodione, 异菌脲 other name: 3-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-N-(1-methylethyl)-2,4-dioxo-1-imidazolidinecarboxamide

CAS No.: [36734-19-7]

Molecular Formula: C13H13Cl2N3O3

Iprodione is a broad spectrum contact fungicide used to prevent the germination of fungal spores on a number of crops as well as amenity turf.

Iprodione is a synthetic compound from the chemical family Dicarboximide. It is used as a foliar fungicide and a seed protector, having both preventative and curative action. The use of iprodione as a nematocide is now beginning in some countries.

Iprodione’s mode of action is that it inhibits DNA and RNA synthesis in the germinating fungal spore was well as inhibiting the enzyme NADH cytochrome c reductase, thereby preventing lipid and membrane synthesis and ultimately mycelium growth.

Iprodione is used to rid crops of diseases caused by fungi such as Botrytis spp., Corticium spp., Fusarium spp., Helminthosporium spp., Monilinia spp., Phoma spp., Pleiochaeta spp., Rhizoctonia spp., Sclerotinia spp., Sclerotium spp., Septoria spp. and Typhula spp (Fusarium, Red Thread, Dollar Spot, Anthracnose, Leaf Spot and Rust). Iprodione is successfully used on amenity turf such as golf courses, bowling greens, lawns, sports stadia, cricket pitches and tennis courts. Crops that can be treated with iprodione include brassica, brussels sprout, bulb onion, cauliflower, lettuce, oilseed rape, raspberry, salad onion, strawberry, tomato. It can also be used for ornamental plant production, both when growing and from seed. Iprodione can be used as a wettable powder, flowable, water dispersible granule for crops at concentrations from 400 upto 750 g/l. A suspension concentrate of 225 g/l is used for amenity turf.
